(EDT) is a course of 12 one hour lessons, these are designed to cover certain critical driving skills. As you complete each lesson the approved driving instructor (ADI) will record your progress in an official RSA logbook issued to yourself. You should also nominate someone as your mentor/sponsor, an experienced driver, (many learners choose from a family member), who will coach and supervise your driving practice outside of (EDT) lessons, and also track your progress in the logbook.
On finishing the (EDT) course, you may still need additional lessons with your (ADI) to further develop your driving skills to the standard required to pass the driving test. It is also important to practice plenty with your sponsor to gain in confidence and experience. On the day of your test, you should bring your completed logbook as you may need to present it to the examiner.
